On July 1, 1867 four provinces (Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick) were united into the federal Dominion of Canada through Confederation. That day a new country appeared. By the end of the 19th century, having accepted the other 6 provinces, Canada got the present-day outline. Newfoundland was the 10th and last province that joined Canada in 1949. Continue reading →
